The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) shared an informative blog on how sports friendships are unique and can have different positive outcomes in comparison to other types of relationships.  Truth be told there can be desirable and undesirable conduct that comes along with these intense and competitive relationships.

Coaches can help detrimental actions evolve in to more positive behavior through:

  • Solid team building activities
  • Established team rules
  • Ensuring that all team members are respected and validated

Coaches can do a lot to create the framework to build a solid team and nurture the groundwork for solid sports friendships.
