No matter the weather, Future Stars campers always have a good time! We have special programs that adapt well to rain, shine, or simmering summer heat.
While activities might change location during weather events, the core elements that make camp special remain:
Your child will hardly notice the adjustments as staff seamlessly transition between weather-appropriate activities and keep the fun level high.
Hot days don’t mean the fun has to stop. Future Stars makes schedule adjustments and introduces other activities to keep your child cool, comfortable, and entertained.
We know how important it is for kids to get out and play in the sun! All children get a chance to do outdoor activities in every program.
But no one should be outside roasting in the summer heat. Future Stars’ standard schedule is designed so that kids can play more in the morning when it’s still cool so they can get out their energy before going indoors to continue the fun.
Those in active programs will take more frequent indoor, air-conditioned breaks throughout the day. And, of course, kids enrolled in outdoor programs will head inside during peak heat hours to keep cool.
Water time is included as part of the daily schedule at all camp locations. Kids get several water breaks throughout the day to stay hydrated and cool. When it gets hotter, they often get even more water breaks to keep them cool and happy.
Many locations also feature water slides or other water activities as a refreshing option during hot days. These provide a fun way for campers to cool down between activities.
Future Stars swimming pools are one of the biggest highlights of the camp experience. Campers enjoy a dedicated swim break daily, allowing them to cool off and have fun. Future Stars extends that pool break even longer as temperatures start to rise.
On the first day of camp, our trained instructors conduct swim assessments to get an idea of each child's comfort and skill level in the water. This means all children can enjoy swimming in a safe, supervised environment appropriate to their abilities. Every child gets to participate in pool time, with some beginning in shallow areas under the watchful eyes of our attentive staff.
All Future Stars camps have indoor facilities with air conditioning. If it’s too hot to run around in the sun, kids in sports programs can practice and play inside in a gymnasium or other indoor facility, such as a dance studio.
And don’t worry—all of our indoor activities are still relevant to the program your child is signed up for! If your child is playing baseball, they might get a quick session in that morning before it gets too hot, and then do drills indoors as temperatures start to rise.
All kids bring their own water bottle to camp. Coaches make sure they get frequent water breaks, especially when it starts to get hotter. There are plenty of places for kids to get refills as needed.
Children bring their own sunscreen. Water breaks are the perfect time to reapply, and camp staffers are there to remind kids and make sure they stay protected from the Northeastern sun.
A little rain doesn't stop the camp experience! Your child's safety is always the top priority, which is why we have flexible procedures in place for various weather conditions.
When there's thunder, lightning, or heavy downpours, campers head indoors for activities that stay true to their program.
Just because it's storming doesn't mean it's movie time! Coaches provide equally engaging activities that keep skill-building front and center.
For example:
During light rain, campers can often continue outdoor activities if they're already underway.
This flexible approach means your child continues to develop skills in their chosen activity while staying safe and comfortable, regardless of what Mother Nature brings.
