All About Future Stars Horseback Riding Camp!

Posted by Jordan Snider on Oct 1, 2021 9:30:00 AM

Horseback riding is a fun and exciting activity for kids of all ages.

From mounting onto a horse for the first time all the way to learning how to control the speed and direction of the horse, the entire experience is fulfilling from front to back.

This is what makes Future Stars Horseback Riding camp a great option for children looking for an unforgettable camp experience this summer!

Before you enroll your child in our horseback riding camp, here are some of the details about our camps and the skills that our campers will learn.

What is a Horseback Riding Camp?

Horseback riding camp is fairly self-explanatory: A camp where children will learn the fundamentals of riding a horse.

However, at Future Stars, there’s more to it than just horseback riding skills.

Not only do we give campers the opportunity to learn how to actually ride a horse, but we also teach them other important equestrian skills, such as caring for horses.

At horseback riding camp, campers will get the entire experience of both looking after and riding a horse!

Age Range for Riding a Horse

Horseback riding is a great activity for a wide range of ages, and our horseback riding camp reflects that. Children from age 7 to 16 are welcome at the Future Stars Horseback Riding camp.

Horseback riding camp is perfect for both younger children looking to learn the basics of riding and older campers who might have past experience with horseback riding. All experience levels are welcome!

Skills Learned at Horseback Riding Camp

Future Stars Horseback Riding camp has campers paired with a horse and an experienced volunteer while being supervised by our certified riding instructor.

Campers will learn a variety of horse riding skills ranging from the basics to more advanced skills, including:

  • Mounting and dismounting
  • How to balance on a horse
  • Trotting
  • Stopping
  • Turning

Also, as we mentioned previously, there’s more to a horse summer camp than simply learning to ride a horse. Caring for the horse is just as important. Campers will be taught other horse-related skills and care, such as:

  • Grooming
  • Tacking
  • Feeding
  • Other general horse education (shelter, wash stalls, etc.)

Most importantly, horse riding summer camps offer a similar experience to any other summer camp: The opportunity for campers to form new friendships and connections with other like-minded individuals. Children will leave horseback riding camp having made unforgettable memories with new friends.

A Typical Day at Horseback Riding Camp

Every day at horseback riding camp will offer something a little different than the last. However, a typical day at Future Stars Horseback Riding camp looks something like this:

  • 9 AM: Daily orientation - Campers arrive and get situated for the day ahead
  • 9:30 AM: Stratford Stables - Campers head to the stables for a variety of horseback-related activities such as riding, grooming, art projects, horse education, equestrian activities, and more
  • 12:30 PM: Lunch - Campers will eat lunch in their predetermined cohorts
  • 1:15 PM: Swimming - Campers get a chance to escape the heat and go for a swim in the pool
  • 2:15 PM: Field sports -
  • 3 PM: Recreational games -
  • 4 PM: Departure

As you can see, campers get an opportunity to do more than just learn about horseback riding. They’ll be able to take a break with swimming and other recreational activities to keep the experience fresh and exciting.
