Chess is a very popular two-person strategy board game that is played all over the world by millions of people of all ages. Its roots are believed to have sprouted from a 7th century game from India, Chaturanga. Each player starts with 16 pieces:
- one king
- one queen
- two rooks
- two knights
- two bishops
- eight pawns
Every piece moves in a different way and the objective of the game is to checkmate the king or to end in a draw. Competitive chess games have been played since 1886.
