NBCNews.com shared the historic news of the first known all girls tackle football league for fifth and sixth grade girls in Utah. With the help of 12 year old Sam Gordon of Wheaties fame, the league was able to fill 50 spots for four teams in only 30 days.
Considering the increased awareness and concern surrounding concussions in both amateur and professional leagues, it was important to hear, Samantha Rapoport, director of football development for USA Football say, "And they know all the safety protocols that they need to implement in order to run a better and safer football league, and they've been doing that brilliantly,"
